Traditional crazy paving in natural stone, laid around a private pool with open countryside behind it. Crazy paving suits an irregular plot better than rectangular slabs, because the joints absorb the changes in shape instead of forcing awkward cuts at every edge.
Each piece is cut and fitted by hand on site, which is slower than laying a regular format but produces a surface that looks like it grew there. The joints were kept tight and consistent, since wide ragged joints are what make crazy paving look cheap.
